Independent by Choice. Progressive by Nature.
Progressive Veterinary Care began more than 30 years ago as Kingston Animal Hospital, a small one-doctor practice serving pets in Central New Jersey. Dr. Michael Tokiwa purchased the hospital in October 2005 with a goal: create a veterinary practice where personal relationships and progressive medicine could exist together.

In 2012, the practice moved to its current location and became known as The Animal Hospital at Blawenburg. As the hospital continued to evolve, the name Progressive Veterinary Care came to reflect both its history and its direction.
Small Hospital. Big Medicine. Real Relationships.
We are independently owned. That allows us to make decisions around the patient, the family and the medical question in front of us - not a distant corporate formula.
We know the pets who walk through our door, and we pride ourselves on knowing the people with them. Familiarity creates context. Context helps us notice change, communicate honestly and build plans that fit real families.
Our size does not limit our medicine. PVC combines in-house diagnostics, dental radiography, laparoscopic surgery and specialist collaboration with the warmth of a neighborhood practice.
More Good Days
Our philosophy is not simply to react when a pet becomes visibly ill. More frequent conversations, early diagnostics and trend monitoring can help us recognize changes sooner. The goal is not time at any cost; it is more comfortable, meaningful days with the pets we love.
Progressive Veterinary Care is independently owned and AAHA accredited, serving families throughout the Greater Princeton area.
Collaborative Specialty Care
Your Family Veterinarian Remains the Hub.
No veterinarian or hospital should try to do everything alone. PVC brings selected board-certified specialty services into our hospital and coordinates outside referral when another facility is the better setting.
- Dr. Dennis Ting - board-certified veterinary surgeon
- Dr. Ryan Keegan - board-certified veterinary cardiologist
- Brian Pepe and Dr. Jay Stefanacci - Pulse Vet Imaging ultrasound team
- Trusted referral hospitals for internal medicine, emergency and other specialty needs
Specialists provide focused expertise. PVC connects the findings with the pet's history, medications, diagnostics, daily life and continuing care.
