A Healthy Life Starts With Knowing What's Normal
Preventive care is the foundation of a long, healthy life. At Progressive Veterinary Care, it means more than simply keeping vaccines up to date. It means getting to know your pet, understanding their individual risks and establishing a health baseline that we can follow throughout their life.

Regular preventive visits give us the opportunity to examine your pet from nose to tail, discuss changes you may have noticed at home, and make recommendations based on their age, lifestyle, breed and medical history.
Prevention Is Personal
There is no single preventive-care plan that's right for every pet.
Depending on your pet's needs, preventive care may include:
- Comprehensive physical examinations
- Individualized vaccination recommendations
- Heartworm and tick-borne disease screening
- Year-round parasite prevention
- Intestinal parasite testing
- Routine blood and urine testing
- Dental and oral-health assessment
- Weight and nutritional evaluation
- Age- and risk-appropriate screening
Our goal isn't to perform tests simply because they're available. It's to recommend the preventive care that can meaningfully affect your pet's health.
Why Test a Pet Who Seems Healthy?
Because pets can't tell us when something subtle has changed.
Bloodwork, urinalysis and other screening tests can sometimes identify changes before they cause obvious symptoms. Just as importantly, normal results establish your pet's individual baseline. That gives us something meaningful to compare against as your pet ages.
A value that is "normal" on a laboratory report can still be important if it has changed significantly from what is normal for that individual pet.
Preventive Care Changes With Age
A puppy or kitten doesn't need the same care as an adult pet—and an older pet shouldn't necessarily receive the same approach they did when they were five.
As pets age, their risks change. Examinations, screening and conversations may need to happen more frequently.
That's where preventive care naturally connects with our More Good Days philosophy: paying attention to change, recognizing problems earlier and intervening while we may have more choices.
More Than Preventing Disease
We can't prevent every illness. But we can give ourselves better opportunities to recognize change sooner.
And sometimes, knowing sooner means more options, more comfortable time together and More Good Days.
