Specialty Heart Care in Your Family Veterinary Hospital.
A heart murmur is a finding, not a complete diagnosis. Progressive Veterinary Care works with Dr. Ryan Keegan, DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology), board-certified cardiologist and owner of Veterinary Cardiology Services.

Dr. Keegan provides on-site cardiology consultations and echocardiography. A cardiac evaluation may include an echocardiogram, ECG, blood pressure, review of radiographs and laboratory results, diagnosis, staging and treatment recommendations.
PVC remains the hub for medication monitoring, kidney values, blood pressure, dental and anesthetic planning, and changes in comfort or activity. Specialty information stays connected to the whole patient.
- New or changing heart murmur
- Abnormal heart rhythm
- Coughing, breathing changes or exercise intolerance
- Weakness or collapse
- Enlarged heart on radiographs
- Known heart disease or pre-anesthetic cardiac assessment
Not every murmur requires immediate medication, and not every cough is cardiac. Echocardiography helps define what is significant and what can be monitored.
Cardiology access for patients of other veterinary practices
Your pet does not need to be an established Progressive Veterinary Care patient to be considered for an appointment with Dr. Keegan. When distance, timing or specialist availability makes PVC a convenient location, Dr. Keegan is often able to examine and evaluate patients who continue to receive their regular care from another veterinarian.
This service is designed to expand access to cardiology—not to replace or compete with your pet's established family veterinarian. With your permission, Dr. Keegan's examination findings, echocardiogram report and recommendations are sent to that veterinarian so ongoing treatment remains connected.
Because Dr. Keegan also sees patients through referral hospitals, an on-site visit at PVC may offer access to the same board-certified cardiologist closer to home and, in many cases, at a lower cost than a hospital-based specialty visit. Availability, recommended testing and fees depend on the individual patient.
